Karlis Povisils leads the development team at Apex Clean Energy as Senior Vice President of Development. Karlis brings over ten years of renewable energy development experience, having joined Apex in early 2010. Prior to joining Apex, Karlis worked for ten years in state government, as a development manager for a public sector real estate development agency and as a nonpartisan analyst for the New Jersey Legislature. Karlis holds an MBA from Yale University, an MA from Syracuse University, and a BA from Rowan University.
Mark Lyons joins the Apex team with over 35 years’ experience in the renewable energy field. He has directed the successful development of nearly 600MW of operating wind energy projects in the US and South Africa – almost 400MW in New York State. A graduate of Amherst College and Albany Law School of Union University, Mark is eager to help fulfill Apex’s commitment to delivering clean energy and carbon solutions at scale in New York and the Northeast Region.
Carmen O'Keefe is a development manager and the primary point of contact for the Heritage Wind Project. She has been with Apex since 2015 and manages wind and solar projects in New York, Maine, and Ohio. Carmen grew up in Newfane and is thrilled to see the potential for progress in the area she considers home. Carmen has a Bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music from Greenville College and is musically active in Western New York.
Brian O’Shea began his career working on political campaigns in rural North Dakota and throughout Minnesota. After leaving the campaign trail in 2013, Brian moved to the private sector where he worked as a consultant to numerous businesses, trade associations, non-profits, and advocacy groups across the country on issues ranging from education policy to workforce development to renewable energy. After six years working in the consulting field on a wide range of projects, Brian was excited to join Apex Clean Energy as a Public Engagement Manager in 2019. In this capacity, Brian works closely with development teams for wind and solar energy projects throughout the country to meet with elected leaders, gather local feedback, and work with communities to help accelerate America’s shift to clean energy.
Jessica Walsh is a development associate for Heritage and works on other wind and solar projects in New York and Ohio. She started out as an intern for Apex in December of 2017 and was hired on full-time in November of 2018. She is a recent graduate of the University at Buffalo with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Geoscience. Jessica is eager to work closely with the public to promote renewable energy and community benefits in Barre.
Anna Mathes, joins Heritage Wind as a Public Engagement Organizer. Anna is a 15-year resident of Barre and a member of the Mathes farming family for 13 of those years. Mathes Farm was started in 1841, and has been ran by 5 generations, with generations 6 and 7 already working to keep the family farm going. Anna is excited to join the Heritage Wind team and eager to help the great little town she calls home reap the benefits of wind energy.
