Construction

Construction on Heritage Wind will commence in January 2026, with initial pre-construction activities starting the week of January 19, 2026. Phase I construction activities shall be limited to 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with the exception of construction and delivery activities which need to occur during extended hours, as needed. Construction is expected to conclude and commercial operations for the project are anticipated to begin by the end of 2027.

Description of Project

Heritage Wind will construct the Facility in the Town of Barre, Orleans County. When completed, the Facility will consist of up to 28 turbines with a total generating capacity of up to 126 megawatts (MW). Other proposed components to be constructed in later phases of the Project will include: approximately 10.5 miles of access roads; one permanent meteorological tower; one aircraft detection lighting system (ADLS) tower approximately 25.2 miles of collection lines; a temporary construction laydown yard of approximately 13.9 acres; temporary concrete batch plant (if needed); parking for construction workers; and a proposed operations and maintenance facility, which will be located on a five-acre site and will consist of two buildings totaling approximately 4,000 square feet. The project will also interconnect to the New York electrical grid via a new Point of Interconnection, located along National Grid’s Lockport-Mortimer 115 kV powerline.
